Things to consider when choosing an exercise mat for home workouts

Size

You want a mat that is long enough for at least your head and whole spine to fit on. Most mats will be, but best to make sure.

Thickness

Thicker mats (½ inch or more) will be more comfortable for exercises where your spine is moving – for example curl ups or shoulder bridge.

Storage

A mat that will roll up is best for easy storage. Make sure your mat comes with straps that will keep it rolled up.

Ease of cleaning

Look for a mat that is easily wiped clean. Some textured surfaces are a lot of trouble to clean.
